<p class=3DMsoNormal>Purpose:<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span=

class is designed to offer the student with the opportunity to understand t=
he
components of the criminal and civil justice system. The method of which th=
is
course will be taught will be through reading, writing, videos, and, overal=
l,
discussion. Students are expected to complete all required readings and
assignments on the day that they are due. Through the use of all of these
methods, the student will have a better chance at comprehending the American
legal system and the rights and responsibilities of the American citizen. <=
/p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Overview of Units: </p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Unit One: Fundamentals of the American Legal System </=
p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Unit Two: Criminal Law &amp; Juvenile Justice</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Unit Three: Torts</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Unit Four: Family Law</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Unit Five: Individual Rights &amp; Liberties </p>

Materials: You need the following items with you in class every day:</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>1. Law Textbook</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>2. Law Binder w/ a spiral notebook for notes</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>3. A pen or pencil</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>4. Your planner (especially if you want to use the
bathroom!)</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Classroom Rules:</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>1. Be in your seat and ready for class when the bell r=
ings. </p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>2. Raise your hand if you want to be heard in this cla=
ss.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>3. Do not talk while others are talking. </p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>4. Remain seated unless otherwise stated.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>5. Leave food, drinks, coats and electronics in your l=
ocker.
</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>6. Respect yourself, your classroom, and your teacher.=
</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>7. Follow the four P&#8217;s: Prompt, Prepared, Positi=
ve,
and Productive. </p>

Late or incomplete assignments will only be accepted for half credit. It is=
