    Possible Positive Effects of Follo= wing the Rules

     

    If I consistently see= a student following rules, he or she may be rewarded with verbal praise, posi= tive notes, and positive phone calls home.  If the class consistently follows rules, then curved tests, homework, and extra credit may result.  = This is my call, not yours.

     

    Consequences

     

    Step 1:  Warning: you will see me during pre-dismissal

    Step 2:  Above, you will be the last studen= t out of the room

    Step 3:  Above, seat change, extra time bef= ore/ after school with me

    Step 4:  Above, parent involvement in desig= ning a plan for improvement

    Step 5:  Above, school referral and detenti= on

     

     

    I reserve the right to cont= act a Parent, Administrator, or Counselor at any step.

     

    The Severe Clause

     

    Fighting, refusal to follow my directions, stopp= ing class from

     functioning- these will result in immediate referral to the Dean’s Office.

     

    Pre-dismissal Policy

     

    This takes place duri= ng the last five minutes of class.  R= easons to see me during pre-dismissal include the following:

    • You have a quick question about the assignm= ent or lesson you did not ask during class.
    • You were tardy.
    • You were absent the previous day.
    • Because I have asked you to see me due to a= rule violation. 
    • Because you were given a notification card = during class.

    If you have no issues= about which I need to speak with you during pre-dismissal, maintain a low voice level, stay seated, and wait to be dismissed by me, not the bell.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Homework Policy<= /b>

     

    I expect 100% of home= work I assign to be completed.  =

     

    Attach a missed assignment sheet to all work not in on time for any reason.  = These sheets will be l= ocated in the front of the class on the desk beneath the clock.  Please fill out the appropriate bo= xes and get the correct date as well.

     

     

    Tardy Policy=

     

    Be in your seat when = the bell rings to begin the class. If you are tardy, please do not interrupt the cla= ss.  Write your name in the Tardy Book and see me during pre-= dismissal.  I will take your pass (if you have= one) at this time and determine whether your tardy was excused or not. 

     

    Absence Policy

     

    Turn in the work that= was due the day of your absence during pre-dismissal and I will answer any questions during this time. You have the number of days you were absent to make up the work. 

    If you were absent on= Monday but came to school Tuesday, you would see me during pre-dismissal Tuesday to hand in the work that was due Monday and get the work you missed Monday.  This work, as well as anything ass= igned Tuesday, would be due on Wednesday.=  

    See the planner for t= he school’s policy regarding number of absences allowed.

     

    Grading Scale

    Leaving the Room=

     

    Come prepared to stay= .  You should not need to use the bat= hroom during class.  Should this sit= uation arise, you may only leave if you have your own planner with room lef= t in the current semester.  Loose p= ages will not be signed and permission will be denied.  I won’t write blue passes fo= r the bathroom. If you have a pass and will be leaving before the period is over, please bring this to my attention before class begins.  If a call slip comes for you and y= ou miss a portion of my class, you are still responsible for the material, so = see your partner for any work you may have missed.

     

    Scheduling a Meeting

     

    I am usually availabl= e during periods 5 or 6.  I am also ava= ilable before or after school.  I wil= l not meet with anyone during pre-dismissal unless it is a quick question or assignment clarification.

     

    The “What Ifs”=

     

    • If you need to blow your nose, throw out tr= ash or sharpen a pencil, do it when I’m not talking and no one else is = up.
    • If I am giving directions, wait until I am = done explaining to ask questions.
    • If we are engaged in a lesson, the desk sho= uld be clear of anything not relevant to the lesson.  This means work for other cla= sses is not on the desk in my class.

     

    All students may attend after scho= ol sessions.  You may use the tim= e to

    complete homework, do a practice A= CT test, or be tutored.
